The real Alice and Lewis Carroll - new items!

As you probably know, Alice in Wonderland  was a real little girl. Lewis Carroll who, on top of being a teacher, mathematician and writer, was also a photographer. We therefore have photos of her and himself.

Lewis Carroll was one of the first photographers, when it was still an expensive and time consuming hobby. He was very popular among famous people and royalties of his time.

By the time he took photos of Alice, exposition time had dropped down to about a minute (from over an hour a few years earlier)

But it was still quite an achievement to have little kids stay still for a whole minute.

Secret Santa 2016

One of my Etsy teams organized a Secret Santa gift exchange. I was spoilt (again) this year.

I received all those nice things from Karin ( her shop is CreativeCrochetShop)
and that was a double surprise as I've known Karin for a long time and she is always helping me with German translations for my shops.

A horsie soap...I almost bit into it thinking it was marzipan...

A chocolate Santa, Xmas spice cookies (there was a whole box...), Indian spice mix, and a cool tea advent calendar. There was also a lovely pesto style mix that had already been eaten by the time I took the photo..

Karin probably didn't know, but I looooove advent Calendars. And this one is  just gorgeous and so original, you get a different tea every day. I can't wait to get started. 

There's a little booklet with a story about every tea...and that will make me work on my German too!

FACTS 2016 comic and anime con

I attended Facts (film, anime, comic con) again this year...after missing it last year (because they organized it a month earlier and I simply forgot).
Though I enjoyed it (mostly because of company, I'll admit) it's probably the last time I attend. Admission price for one day is now 25 euros and it's simply not worth it for me. Food  was pretty expensive and unimpressive. So I figure I'll spend my money more wisely next year and not attend. Or I'll have forgotten how expensive that was and bring my own food (but I'll looooove eatiing out...it's part of the fun for me)...
Well, there was still very nice cosplayers and memorabilia.

A stolen photo of Nicholas Brandon (Xander from Buffy). Yeah, I'm too cheap to pay 30 euros for an autograph too... Sean Astin was there too (I met him over 20 years ago...) and 2 Doctors Who...

If you read my blog, you must have noticed it has become a quite boring self promo affair...and if you don't follow me on Twitter or Instagram you probably have no idea why.
My Pepita died in August, and a few days later Daget died too. And grief is a weird thing, sometimes you cope and sometimes you don't. Let's just say that I cannot cope with Pepita's not being around.
And if it was not hard enough, my autoimmune disease decided it was a good time to flare up.
And, as when things go bad, they tend to go all the way bad, I had to take a less than thrilling day job. It's not horrible but it's time consuming and I don't like it much. And I feel guilty about hating  it when so many are far less lucky. Also, I have to leave mom alone all day too and she is not aging well and, well, it's tough...
I adopted a kitty family, a mom and 2 kittens abandoned on a parking lot...I was not really ready for that but they needed a safe place fast. They're a bit of a handful but they're sweet.  Chloe (mom) is a monster with my other cats, they're all terrified of her :/ I hope things improved quickly... yes, I know, no kitten photos...I cannot bring myself to take cat photos yet...
