 While desperately trying to find something to listen to to cover the noise the neighbor was making with his car engine running all evening, I found this great site, TableTop Audio, "Original, 10 minute ambiences and music for your tabletop role-playing games".
It works great as background noise for any activity requiring some concentration...and I admit I have already fallen asleep to the sound of  "Orbital Platform" several times.

 I guess this house is already kind of famous. This is Bob Hope's UFO house, located in Southern California. It was designed  in the 70's by architect John Lautner. It reminds me of so many novels from the Golden Era of science fiction...in my mind this is straight out of the planet Aurora in Isaac Asimov's books.  More photos available here.

I  currently am in a house-remodeling mood. This wallpaper from Anthropologie would be perfect for my living room.

New floor in the office

I didn't really take a break during this Easter holiday. My shops were in semi-vacation mode but I had lots of plans for the house. I finally placed a new vinyl floor in my office. It used to be an old wooden floor, it was OK but needed lots of work to look nice + with the tiler's crappy work in the hallway, transition between rooms was not very smooth...a gaping hole and a 1cm height difference  were not pretty.

The hardest part was removing all the furniture and stuff. Fortunately I didn't have to remove the huge shelves on the left as they are attached to the wall.

First I covered the whole room with thin MDF planks (not pictured because ugly and...well, I forgot too) and then I dragged the vinyl roll into the room. That's kind of tough  because it is heavy.

Some cuttings and double sticky tape required et voilà!

Note the pretty brass transition bar there ...no more  ugly hole.

The furniture was re-arranged and I have more space now.

Pepita didn't like all the commotion, she looked very worried and requested cuddles all the time. Once the room was finished (but still empty)...it turned into her personal training dojo. She'd bring a toy and play like crazy. She was slightly disappointed when I brought the furniture back in.

 A very cool cat shell! The shells are made of recycled  cardboard.They are made by a Japanese company Oppo. I didn't quite understand how to order or even how much they cost, but, oh well... It'd be fun to transform my living room into an oyster bed ;)

This house. If I had had more  decent photos of this one, it would have deserved an entire post. Typical Art Déco house from this area of Belgium. That specific one is in Dour. Dour was very prosperous for the first half of the 20th century. It still has some amazing Art Déco houses and buildings, though most are not in very good condition now and the whole town could easily be qualified as "fourth world" now. I spent most of my childhood there. I remember taking long walks in town with my gran. She lived there all her life so she knew all the streets and shortcuts and cute alleys. I guess that's where my taste for Art Déco architecture comes from. I'd see all those beautiful houses, visited a few where my gran's friends lived. I did go inside the house pictured here. It had the most beautiful  round staircase (in the round part of the house on the right on the first picture) with beautiful colored glass paneled windows. The house is actually for sale now, I am tempted to ask for a visit so I could peek through those cute little windows at the top. It must be the best attic ever.

 A very unusual house for sale in Malibu. I really like it...it is a mix between a Flintstones house and something out of the Planet of The Apes movies. I love how the kitchen and bathroom are pretty much carved in the walls. Too bad it used to belong to some creep who had it built with slavery money.

A London Victorian house. Just that would be awesome. A Victorian house, in London, in the very nice part of London, with plenty of WORKING bathrooms, lots of space, an extra little house in the garden, a magnificent magical garden, amazing views from the top rooms...wouldn't that be enough? Noooo...it also has a spaceship in the attic!!!!!!
