Summer ponderings

There's not much I enjoy more than lying in the tree shade on a warm summer day.

And I like how  my tiny red maple tree looks like a giant  forest tree...

Of course the cats have to join me.

Pepita made herself a fancy little cool house in the high grass...but she still comes out for a cuddle.
The warmth and quiet help me come to terms with all sort of things.

Before Christmas

View from the sofa
It has been unusually warm for December. Temperatures reached 17° Celsius several times last week and we had only one frosty night back in November.
This spring weather got me on holiday mode much earlier than usual. I pretty much only packed orders and did fun things the rest of the time. I went to the movies, baked, watched TV and DVD's, cuddled the cats, went window shopping.
I hate being cold so this warmth has put me in a very good mood.
A nice relaxed December.
YAAAAWNNNNN

Yeah, the tree looks good upside down too

I'll sleep on these,  don't put them up in the tree.

I am way cuter than bread anyway

Favorite ornament

Pink tree in the study...and Finn

Is that turkey time yet?

Wake me up for the turkey.

Summer arrived early....

After an incredibly mild winter (2 hours of snow and temperatures barely dropping below zero) weather skipped spring and is giving us summer...in March. all the pictures here were taken on March 16,2014.
I've noticed that for the last 3 or 4 years spring seemed to be earlier and earlier...but this year we had several days with temperatures well above 20° mid March. It never happened before, well not since 1830 when people started recording temperatures.
So obviously plants and flowers are early...except from trees which were still pretty bare until a couple of days ago.

Do you see the bumblebee?

Naked trees. It felt so strange to be sitting in the sun in the garden with all those bare trees around. It felt a bit like a summer bubble in the middle of winter. It also reminded me of that Space 1999 episode where Moonbase Alpha got an atmosphere on the Moon for a few hours.

Diego doesn't mind the nice weather.

Downside is that weed is growing and it is already time to mow the lawn...

Philibert on a mission...

to poop in the planter...

Oh Christmas tree Oh Christmas tree...

Better late than never, and anyway it's still up, here are some photos of my Christmas tree and decorations (aka "let's play with the new camera")
Yes, I have a peacock tree topper.

My favorite ornament. It was given to me by my gran  for my first Christmas. It used to be a glass bauble but it got crushed at one point (oh the drama that was...I cried and cried and cried). My mom fixed it with a plastic bauble...et voilà! Bunny ornament always has the honor spot in the tree.

Kitschy music box
Some plush toys....including the famous Christmas Panda...huh...yeah, I made that up.

Mini pink tree in my study...it has been standing there for over 2 months, undecorated and quite dusty now

Spring is here

Spring is here :) To celebrate I planted an apple tree and a raspberry plant. And I took some pictures of the garden in the first warm sun of the year!
On top photo, Philibert McGregor, a visiting neighbor kitty friend.

The askew bunny...about the only thing I kept from the junk the previous owners of the house left behind.
Hopefully many raspberries to come!

And the apple tree! Granted it doesn't look very impressive...but even the largest baobab was once a baby tree!
