My little tent

Ever since I was a little kid I've had a passion for tents. Funny as I've never been camping and have never been  a scout either.
Every summer we'd build the tent in the garden...and I'd bring my toys and books in , and have my meals in lunch boxes in there too.

I decided it was time for a tent again...so I got  the cheapie one from Decathlon. It was crazy easy  to build...took me about 20 minutes all by myself.

It's nice to be able to go in the garden even if the weather is not very warm...nor very dry.
The tent has become my little bubble of peace, away from the real life..which is not very pleasant at the moment.
Also,  I cannot seem to enjoy the garden the way I used to. I miss Pepita who'd follow me around.
I've barely stepped outside other than for mowing the lawn ever since she passed away.

Cats are fairly indifferent...only Bunny (who's technically not my cat) joins me for cuddles and late afternoon naps.

Diego doesn't like Bunny so he won't come inside

It's nice to be outside again...and it's nice to have all those childhood memories come back...

Summer ponderings

There's not much I enjoy more than lying in the tree shade on a warm summer day.

And I like how  my tiny red maple tree looks like a giant  forest tree...

Of course the cats have to join me.

Pepita made herself a fancy little cool house in the high grass...but she still comes out for a cuddle.
The warmth and quiet help me come to terms with all sort of things.

Wet season...monsoon maybe?

Hygrocybe conica, aka blackening waxcap
 It's been raining A LOT lately...and I mean A LOT...the garden turned into a paddyfield...and we're getting strange mushrooms I had never seen before...

 Even the cats were intrigued.

Pepita needed to investigate.

It stinks.
I am not even getting near it.

Kamikaze bird

Target acquired

I have this crazy bird with a deathwish who keeps stealing cat food...

Getting closer

And closer

He spotted me...

...and he spotted Bruno

Checking the other side...just in case...

I got noms!

Let's go eat it somewhere quiet...
Still puzzled that a bird would want to eat catfood...which is probably made of many birds too...

Mother of all dragon...flies

This weekend while walking in the garden I got caught in a cloud of dragonflies...I ran to the house to get my camera and some were left in the bushes when I came back.
I would have loved to capture the swarm...I seriously have never seen more than one dragonfly at a time before ...and on very rare occasions too.

Most were red but this one was brown...
I didn't manage to take a photo of one in flight as they were all way too fast for me...but I'll keep trying...hopefully I'll see more from now on.

After the excitement of seeing dragonflies, that cute little chubby spider was kind of boring...

and the ladybug was completely lame...

Cats cats cats

I suddenly realized that a gratuitous cat photo post  was long overdue :)

The enemy brothers napping together

Pepita monitoring  garden activities

Diego stalking Pepita (I believe he has a crush on her)

A romantic Diego

Digestive nap for Bruno. He is becoming huge.

Pretty in pink Daget

Eugénie seriously napping in the sun

Gazette being cutely annoying.

Inspection in progress

Spotting mom
If you wonder why there's an old radiator in the garden, it's from the bathroom work last summer. The damned thing is too heavy to lift by myself or it'd be recycled already...

Summer in winter

This post was originally meant to be a review of the new Star Wars film...but there's so little to review there that I changed my mind (you'll still find my view on that film at the end of this post if you're interested)
So far winter seems to have forgotten us. Here we are at the end of December and flowers are blooming. Heavy sweaters and coats are still in the closet and it is warm enough to sit in the garden.
3 years ago we were buried in knee-deep snow.

No doubt, it is December, naked trees, low sun...

But cats napping outside...

Pepita glowing in the sunlight...

Ladybugs wandering...

Flowers...

and kittens blooming...

Fresh moss...

Pepita is already checking for Easter eggs, it seems...

So is Bruno...

And now Star Wars, the Force awakens. What can I say? I think they added a 10th circle to hell where you'll be forced to watch tepid souless re-hash of good films/series for all eternity. This tenth circle is entirely dedicated to JJ Abrams.
