Spring in February?

So it's mid-February and temperatures have risen to over 18° for the last 5 days. It should be max 5/6° during the day, it should drop below zero at night. Snow in late March wasn't unusual...
It is really strange. The pale low winter sun with warmth...somehow that just doesn't add up.
Cats don't mind. I don't mind. I am coat-less and fancy free ;)

Who could that be?

My new favorite photo of Bunny
It's been warm enough to sit outside and eat ice-cream and get cat cuddles.

There are actually 3 cats in this photo. But good luck spotting the third one as Frank is perfectly camouflaged. I know where he is and I can barely see him ;)

Taking it easy

Summer is here, at least for a few days. One of my favorite things is to have breakfast in the garden with a book.
I am recovering from 3 days of mean flu so I am taking it extra easy.

Mother of all dragon...flies

This weekend while walking in the garden I got caught in a cloud of dragonflies...I ran to the house to get my camera and some were left in the bushes when I came back.
I would have loved to capture the swarm...I seriously have never seen more than one dragonfly at a time before ...and on very rare occasions too.

Most were red but this one was brown...
I didn't manage to take a photo of one in flight as they were all way too fast for me...but I'll keep trying...hopefully I'll see more from now on.

After the excitement of seeing dragonflies, that cute little chubby spider was kind of boring...

and the ladybug was completely lame...

Summer arrived early....

After an incredibly mild winter (2 hours of snow and temperatures barely dropping below zero) weather skipped spring and is giving us summer...in March. all the pictures here were taken on March 16,2014.
I've noticed that for the last 3 or 4 years spring seemed to be earlier and earlier...but this year we had several days with temperatures well above 20° mid March. It never happened before, well not since 1830 when people started recording temperatures.
So obviously plants and flowers are early...except from trees which were still pretty bare until a couple of days ago.

Do you see the bumblebee?

Naked trees. It felt so strange to be sitting in the sun in the garden with all those bare trees around. It felt a bit like a summer bubble in the middle of winter. It also reminded me of that Space 1999 episode where Moonbase Alpha got an atmosphere on the Moon for a few hours.

Diego doesn't mind the nice weather.

Downside is that weed is growing and it is already time to mow the lawn...
